I'm on a reinventing kick. It started with a couple of skirts that I had in the "give away"

box. I really liked the cut and fabrics of the skirts, but they were too long--no longer stylish. Then I had a brainstorm ... to cut 'em, hem 'em and jazz 'em up. Since I don't have a dressmaker's mannequin (I'm now on the hunt for one!), I can't get a good photo to show you how cute they turned out ... so you'll have to trust me. The green floral print skirt has a new bit of velvet ribbon trim; the black rayon skirt has a fun cream and black polka dot ribbon trim.

Once I'd finished the skirts ... I started looking at everything differently! Today I used some of my favorite caramel-colored toile fabric to recover a couple of dining room chair cushions (see the before and after here).
Next, I revamped a boring brown & black pattered jacket
(formerly destined for the giveaway box) with black passementerie trim, butterscotch "patches" and these
amazing reproduction
vintage beads from La Mode. (You know you have issues when you can lose track of time in the button aisle of the store, lusting over pretty buttons.) Next up is my living room coffee table and the $5 chairs I bought at the flea market last week. Nothing is safe anymore!
